Reiki
The OM Center has been offering Reiki since its inception in 2004 and we are happy to see it now being offered in most major hospitals across the U.S. including Loudoun Hospital. Reiki physically dissolves stored negativity in the body. This facilitates the balancing of energy and emotions, resulting in long term physical and emotional wellbeing.
Clinical Research has proven Reiki to help hasten healing after open heart surgery, lower rejection rates after transplants, and reduces anxiety and depressions in patients who received regular therapy.
Often memories of trauma or injury are subconsciously stored in our body creating physical disease. By releasing this memory, the body is finally able to heal.
How does it work? [..more..]
Reiki (universal life force energy) is transmitted through the practitioner’s hands into the energy field of the recipient. The flow of Reiki helps release blockages within the mind/body system, promoting better health and wellbeing.
What will I experience during a treatment? [..more..]
Experiences vary from person to person, but almost everyone finds it to be a deeply relaxing experience. It is not uncommon to fall asleep during a treatment. Some people can feel the energy physically as gentle waves, pulsations, tingles or temperature shifts. Some people feel the energy as being very peaceful, with a spiritual quality.
Is Reiki safe? [..more..]
Reiki has no contraindications and is safe for all ages. It is never appropriate for a client to remove clothing for a treatment, except for shoes. Reiki treatments are performed in a therapeutic setting with the client relaxing on a massage table.
Are there any side effects from a treatment? [..more..]
Yes, generally positive ones! Most commonly people feel lighter and less stress and tension after a treatment. Because Reiki releases energy blockages it is important to drink water after a treatment, similar to flushing toxins out after receiving a massage. On occasion Reiki will trigger a strong release of old energy that the client may feel as fatigue or a slight cold. If this happens it will not last more than 1-2 days and most people report feeling considerably better after the release period.
Is Reiki tied to any religion? [..more..]
Reiki is not affiliated with any religion or religious dogma, although the practice of “laying on of hands and healing touch” has been reported since the beginning of time. Reiki works with all religions or none at all. Reiki produces feelings of deep peace which many liken to a spiritual state similar to that achieved through meditation.
Hypnotherapy [..more..]
In life it is common to develop thought patterns that create symptoms or conditions in our mind/body – for example anxiety, depression and fear. While Reiki works to release negative energy, Hypnotherapy combined with Reiki aims to get to the “root” of the issue and retrain our thought process from the negative to the positive. Understanding that our thoughts often create our reality, the ability to learn to shift our thoughts is life changing in how we feel and adapt to life’s inevitable changes.

Behavior/pattern change, anxiety, depression, fears, phobias, confidence, performance, personal growth, self-healing
Is Hypnosis a form of mind control? [..more..]
Hypnosis is a very common state to be in and most of us experience a state of hypnosis regularly. Contrary to Hollywood’s portrayal there is no ‘sunken place’ and you can’t be made to do anything against your will in Hypnosis. It’s a relaxed state of fixated attention where the conscious mind can be bypassed to work directly with the subconscious. Driving a familiar route and zoning out, crying while watching a sad movie, daydreaming, and being so engrossed in something of interest that you tune out the background are all common states of Hypnosis.
How does it work? [..more..]
Hypnosis is similar to updating software on your computer. All of the information that produces thought patterns, behaviors, reactions and responses is stored in the subconscious mind. In order to access the subconscious database of stored information, the conscious mind or critical factor must be in a relaxed state of awareness. Once accessed, outdated limiting beliefs and thought patterns that produced certain behaviors, responses and reactions can be removed and new thoughts and beliefs related to the desired goal can be installed.
What is a Hypnosis session like? [..more..]
It’s good to allow 1.5-2 hours for session. Dress comfortably and eat something within a few hours of appt so you don’t come hungry . First an intake will be done to determine the area for change, the beliefs and patterns related to it and the desired goals. During hypnosis the client will be relaxing on a massage table and guided into a state of focused attention and relaxation. The client will be able to hear everything that is said, although their awareness may fade in and out. There may be a sense of time distortion. Most people feel refreshed and energized after a hypnosis session, like they woke up from a great nap.
How many Hypnosis sessions will I need? [..more..]
It varies, but most people experience positive changes in 1-3 sessions.
What if I can’t be hypnotized? [..more..]
All hypnosis is self hypnosis and because it’s a natural, regularly experienced state anyone can be in it.
What’s the difference between hypnosis and meditation? [..more..]
In meditation, focused attention and relaxation is used to quiet the mind and allow the body to rest or heal. In hypnosis the same focused attention and relaxation is used to direct the mind towards the desired goal.
